In 1992, David H. Leach, M.D., joined the highly regarded Tampa Eye Clinic, a multi-specialty ophthalmology practice and a leader in eye care in the Tampa Bay area since 1962. He was also an assistant clinical professor at the University of South Florida Department of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Tampa Bay Ophthalmological Association, and the Hillsborough County Medical Association. He is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has hospital affiliation as a consultant staff with St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa.
David H. Leach, M.D., is one of only a few eye doctors in Florida to have completed two years of specialty training in cornea and laser vision correction and is a specialist in this area. He was one of the first co-investigators with the FDA Excimer Laser Study for the correction of nearsightedness from 1990 to 1992.
Having achieved a very high proficiency with the most current laser technologies, David H. Leach, M.D., is the first laser vision correction specialist to use the Allegretto Wave laser in the Tampa Bay area. This laser is able to track eye movement while using a smaller laser spot for improved accuracy and results. This has allowed a majority of his patients to achieve 20/20 vision without the use of glasses or contact lenses.
David H. Leach, M.D., has written five chapters and several papers on various refractive surgery topics, which have been published in corneal and laser surgery textbooks.
