As a noted and highly respected LASIK and refractive surgery specialist, David H. Leach, M.D., has been involved with laser vision correction for more than 15 years and has performed more than 8,000 laser vision correction procedures. Since starting his practice, David H. Leach, M.D., has been devoted to improving the sight of thousands of people and making their lives better with clear vision.
After graduating cum laude from Tufts University in Boston for his undergraduate degree, David H. Leach, M.D., went on to University of Michigan Medical School where he graduated with honors. He took his internship and residency at the highly acclaimed Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit for his initial training in ophthalmology. While in the Detroit area, he worked as an emergency room physician, prior to his specialized training in ophthalmology. He then was awarded a two-year fellowship for research and training in refractive surgery and laser vision correction at the LSU Eye Center in New Orleans, where the first excimer laser procedure was performed in the United States and early development of laser vision correction was pioneered.
